I think we can all agree that finding direction and purpose for our lives is extremely challenging.
What do we do? How can there be so many options? How do I know how to choose the best path for my life? What if I choose the wrong path? Is there even a right path at all, and what in the world does God think about it?
These were all the questions I wrestled long and hard with right after high school. I didn’t know what college to go to, what to study, what career I wanted. I felt so much pressure from everyone around me to make the “right” decision. I envied the people who made these decisions so effortlessly. How do they so easily make decisions that will so strongly impact the trajectory of their lives!
I had no clue what God thought and what he wanted me to do with my life or how to even find that out. I knew I needed some guidance. Someone, somewhere surely could help me figure this out.
These thoughts, these questions are the very things that lead me to do a DTS at YWAM Denver. I had decided that five months (that’s how long the program is) was not very long and that spending time with God, learning more about who He is and how to hear from Him would probably help me gain some clarity and purpose and IT DID! Not only was I completely transformed during my DTS, but God gave me such a passion and purpose for my life. I didn’t know it was possible to obtain so much in such a short amount of time. I found so many answers to questions I had about God and my purpose. I also got to travel while discovering all these things. I can honestly and wholeheartedly tell you that DTS changed my life!
So this is my challenge to you. If you, like me, are struggling with options, purpose, and finding a direction for your life, DTS is a GREAT place to start. You will meet God in such a personal way that all these things will begin to become more evident to you. And even if you don’t get the answers you were hoping for, you will discover more about the goodness of God and how to grow your relationship with him, and that in of itself will give you a purpose the world can never give!
